Pilgrim Church Core Values:
Fellowship:
Christian fellowship is a mutual bond that believers share in their relationship with Jesus and with each other. It is a partnership, participation, and sharing that involves deep spi ritual unity, active cooperation in worship and service, and joint commitment to living out the truths of Scripture. The early church devoted itself to fellowship, prayer, and the bre aking of bread, which were foundational activities of the congregation. This fellowship w as not optional; it was intrinsic to the life and mission of the congregation.
Discipleship:
By definition, a disciple is a follower, one who accepts and assists in spreading the doctrines of another. A Christian disciple is a person who follows Jesus Christ and accepts and assists in the spreading of the good news of salvation through Him. Christian discipleship is the process by which disciples grow in the Lord Jesus Christ and are equipped by the indwelling Holy Spirit to overcome the pressures and trials of this present life and become more and more Christlike. Prayer:
The most basic definition of prayer is “talking to God.” Prayer is not meditation or passive reflection; it is direct address to God. It is the communication of the human soul with the Lord who created the soul. Prayer is the primary way for the believer in Jesus Christ to communicate his emotions and desires with God and to fellowship with God. (GotQuestions.org)
Worship:
According to the Bible, worship is defined as a lifestyle of surrender and reverence towards God. It involves honoring Him through every thought, word, and action, as stated in John 4:23, where Jesus mentions that true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. Worship is a dominant theme throughout the Bible, emphasizing that God is worthy of all honor, praise, and respect. It encompasses both a way of life and specific acts of praising and adoring God, both publicly and privately. Ultimately, worship reflects a personal and intimate connection with God, showing reverence and honor.
Evangelism:
Christian evangelism is the act of sharing the Christian gospel, the message and teachings of Jesus Christ. It is typically done with the intention of converting others to Christianity. Evangelism can take several forms, such as personal conversations, preaching, media, and is especially associated with missionary work.
Outreach:
Christian outreach is a vital part of the Christian mission to engage with the community. It aims to serve those in need while sharing the love of Christ. By actively participating in local issues, churches can create meaningful connections and foster a sense of belonging. This effort not only addresses immediate needs but also opens doors for spiritual conversations.
Biblical doctrine::
Biblical doctrine encompasses the core teachings of Christianity, which are believed to be divinely revealed through scripture. The term “doctrine” itself means “instruction” or “teaching,” and in a biblical context, it refers to the principles and truths taught by Christ and His apostles. The Bible asserts that all scripture is “God-breathed” and is profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16).
